Holly Aiken Bags

Holly Aiken bags are like pieces of art on your shoulder. They are retro, funky and eye catching.  I love the color contrasts and the simple presentation. These bags are also made out of vinyl, which makes them not only easy to clean, but antimicrobial and antibacterial. They are also mildew and oil resistant. woo-hoo!

If you live in the Raleigh NC area, stop by and check out Holly’s store, Stitch where you can purchase her bag designs as well as artwork from other artists.

Elroy Apparel

Elroy Apparel is a beautiful, simple and sustainable line of clothing created by Leanne McElroy. Leanne has been creating one-of-a-kind garments since the tender age of 13, and is now an amazingly talented designer as well as a devout vegan and a passionate environmentalist. All of the clothing included in her Elroy line are made from organic fibers, mostly the super fiber, bamboo and organic cotton. (more…)

Washing Up..

Finding a quality, yummy-smelling, skin-soothing, cruelty-free soap, typically causes some frustration for us humane bathers. Luckily, more vegan soaps are becoming available via the internet and health food stores.  Here are some fantastic soaps that I have - or would love to - suds up with.

Old Reliable: Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps. I have always liked the tingly feelings this soap leaves behind. A hippie staple, Dr. Bronners soaps can be used for anything you can think of. You can clean your teeth, floor, clothes, and car all with one bottle. Sound scary? It hardly is.  This “Magic” soap only contains organic, and fair trade oils. For their 60th anniversary Dr. Bronner’s released a new line of soap that is twice as fantastic as its predecessor.  This Shikakai soap smells sugary (tastes sugary too…whoops) and slightly exfoliates as it cleans. If you have never had the pleasure of trying out any of Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps, please do so, STAT! (more…)

Rejuviebags!

Raecyclements is a Orange County based company started by designer Rebecca Molina, that creates handbags and wallets from materials saved from an earth-condemning life in a landfill.  This line is called Rejuviebags, and it has a much greater purpose than just fashion.

Made from 100% recycled materials such as juice packs and rice sacks, these bags are created by a women’s fair trade co-op in the Philippines. This enables these women to have fair income, gather working experience, and create amazing works of art. Each bag is hand made and takes almost a full day to create, making each bag one of a kind. Raecyclements also donates percentage of the sales proceeds to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

What better way to save the earth, provide jobs, donate to a good cause, and make a fashion statement!

Sheep Free Jackets for Fall

In a few weeks, the nights and mornings will be growing colder and Jackets and blazers are helpful to keep the chill away.  I prefer simple pieces that go well with anything,  that I can throw off and on as needed.  However, it can be hard to find cute cover-ups made without wool.  Here are my sheep-butt-free picks for this fall:

Fall is my favorite time to exercise outside.
