The Retro Style Series covered the history and highlights of fashion from the 20′s to the 90′s. The Roaring 20′s

Form in women’s clothing returned in the 1930’s. Waistlines and busts were accentuated, and glorious curves were loved and embraced. The 30’s also marked the beginning of the world’s obsession with Hollywood stars.

The Swinging 40′s
1940’s fashion featured simple tailored styles and multiple pieces that offered women more variety in their dress. Instead of the prototypical one piece dress there was now separate skirts, shirts, pants and shorts!

The Nifty 50′s
This was a time when women really embraced being women. The idea of beauty became less contrived and more natural and effortless. Women could throw on a flirty dress, smear on some red lipstick and easily hoist themselves into sex symbol status.

The Mod 60′s
The booming modern art world flowed into daily garb and reflected as bright colors, geometric shapes and bold prints. The groovy folk of the 60’s knew how to let loose and have fun, and their clothes clearly reflected that mentality.

Bright colors and curve hugging clothing carried on from the 60’s into the next decade. The free-thinking, fun-loving youth of the 70’s added their own funky flair to fashion with super high shoes, shimmery fabrics, and lots of booty shorts.
