I have always been impressed with Toyota (my dad had the COOLEST baby blue Land Cruiser when I was a kid).
I just got off of a conference call with Toyota about their philanthropic efforts and little did I realize that since they began tracking their philanthropy in 1991, they have given over 1/2 billion dollars to community efforts. That’s a lot of dough!
While Toyota has a broad spectrum of programs they donate to, the majority of their community efforts go toward:
-
Driving/road safety
-
Education
-
Environment
Keeping in line with their charity philosophy of a National Vision with Local Impact, Toyota is currently running the second year of their 100 Cars for Good Program. The crux of this program is that they give away 100 vehicles in 100 days to 100 non-profits.
This program is gaining steam in a major way…last year they received 2400 applications from non-profits who wished to participate in the program and this year that number jumped to 4200. The team narrowed the field down to 500 finalists.
This year the most common philanthropic divisions among the finalist non-profits are:
-
Animals
-
Environment
-
Human Services
What’s so cool about the 100 Cars for Good Campaign is that Toyota leaves the voting up to the public. WE get to choose which non-profits win the cars (Voting opened May 14 and runs through August 21st).
Each day for 100 days, 5 non-profits compete to win a Toyota. The organization with the most votes at the end of the day is awarded an all new Toyota vehicle. This year’s vehicle line up includes more than one hybrid vehicle!!! Here’s the line-up; Tundra, Prius v, Camry Hybrid, Sienna van, Sienna mobility van (or the Highlander). The four runner-up organizations each day will be given a contribution of $1,000.
Voting is so simple… Go to the Toyota USA Facebook Page CLICK HERE, “Like” the page, click on the 100 Cars For Good ap, and vote! You can vote once every day.

For those of you with loved ones who have mobility issues, I am sure you know how important it is that certain charities have access to the Toyota Sienna mobility van. I am thrilled they have included this vehicle in their 100 Cars for Good Line-Up. Check out the video below demonstrating their Auto Access Seat –
