When I was a teenager, I struggled with bad skin. There were very few over the counter options and the ones that were available usually contained harsh chemicals. Those chemicals worked for a little bit but they created more problems for my skin later on.
I tell you all this because I wish that companies like Kaike were around back then so I had better options for my troubled skin. I got the chance to try out Kaike’s beauty products and I absolutely love them. If you’ve never heard of Kaike (pronounced like ‘cake’), let me tell you all about them!
In 2015, Keli Smith wanted to bring a little fun to what she saw as a bland beauty industry. She chose to make all natural and vegan products that go a little beyond what you can find on the shelves today. With products like Frosting and their Sugar Scrub, not only do they make things that work but also bring a little sweetness to your day.
I was sent a sample of Kaike’s Frosting, Sugar Scrub, Green Tea Mask, Cleansing Oil, and Lip Frosting and let me tell you friends, I loved them all!
The Kaike products I tried are:
Sugar Scrub ($5)
I’m going to start with my favorite product, the Sugar Scrub. I swear this scrub is magical. I used it on my hands, my face, and even my lips and it made everything soft and smooth. My husband has the worst dry and cracked hands, especially during the winter, and loves using this scrub to keep them soft and moisturized. I also love that it’s only four ingredients and I know each one. Cane sugar, coconut oil, avocado oil, and vanilla oleoresin. That’s it. Oh, and my other favorite thing? The Sugar Scrub smells AMAZING. I had to stop myself from taking a bit every time I used it!
This mask was my second favorite because it really helped improve my skin. The only two ingredients are French green clay, bentonite clay, and matcha green tea powder. I feel like clay masks, as well as matcha, are all the rage right now and after using this mask I see why. The mask comes as a powder and all you do is add a little water to make a paste and apply it to your face. I used it mostly on my chin and around my mouth where I tend to get acne and it helped draw out the impurities and reduce redness. I like that it came as a powder instead of a goop like most other masks because I feel like this will last longer that way.
Frosting ($7.50)
Kaike’s Frosting is one of their most versatile products. You can use this moisturizer on any part of your body, including your hair. It contains mango butter, coconut oil, apricot kernel oil, candelilla wax, arrowroot powder, and vanilla oleoresin. I loved using it right after I used the Sugar Scrub because it smells just as delicious and kept my exfoliated skin softer longer. I also tried it on the ends of my hair after showering and it kept my normally dry ends perfectly moisturized all day.
Cleansing Oil ($25)
I am all about using oil to clean my skin because it is so much better for you than other cleansers. Oil has really helped my skin bounce back after years of using harsh chemicals. Kaike’s Cleansing Oil is made with grapeseed oil, apricot kernel oil, hemp seed oil, castor oil, lemongrass essential oil, and chamomile essential oil. I used this oil mostly for removing my makeup and it worked like a charm. I love the scent of lemongrass and the fact that I didn’t have to scrub my eye to get my mascara off. Just a few swipes and it was gone!
Lip Frosting ($5)
The Lip Frosting is a chapstick version of the regular Frosting. It has mango butter, coconut oil, castor oil, candelilla wax, and vanilla oleoresin. I would use this after using the Sugar Scrub on my lips and it kept them nice and soft all day. I also had a few days where cold wind cracked my lips and this really helped heal and protect them.
Overall, I seriously loved all of Kaike’s products. I like knowing the exact ingredients in the things I put in and on my body and all these items had simple, organic, and vegan ingredients. I also have to give a little shoutout to the fact that they are based in Round Lake, IL. Always love when local businesses do great things and make great products.
You can buy all these products online through Kaike’s website. You can purchase them individually or in sets if you want to try a few of their items. I highly recommend Kaike to anyone looking for beauty products with simple, cruelty-free ingredients as well as anyone that wants to sweeten up their beauty routine!
