Every Pound Saves A Hound
Coffee and dogs, what could be better right? That’s exactly what you get with Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co., delicious coffee and a chance to save some of our four-legged friends.
In 2012, Jordan Karcher the founder of Grounds & Hounds found himself at a dog adoption event. He had no plans to adopt a dog that day but fate had other plans and he met Molly, a malnourished dalmatian that climbed into has lap and quickly became a member of the family. Jordan knew there were so many other dogs just like Molly who needed good homes but were sadly finding themselves in shelters and more often than not were euthanized because there were just too many dogs and not enough space. He decided to create a coffee company that would not only make top-quality coffee but give back and save animals.
The green coffee is 100% fair trade and organic certified and they source all beans from the best growing regions in the world. They themselves roast and blend each batch so they know they will end up with a great, and delicious, result. Even better than the organic coffee is the fact that 20% of all proceeds that Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. makes is donated to a rescue partner located closest to where the product was bought. So when you buy a bag of Grounds & Hounds Coffee you’re helping the no-kill shelters that are closest to your neighborhood.
I got a chance to try out their entire line of blended coffee and I was not disappointed. There is definitely something for every coffee lover out there. Morning Walk is their light roast blend and has notes of sweet cherry, citrus, and toasted nuts. Paper & Slippers is a medium roast with notes of brownie, toasted walnut, blackberry jam, and plum. Sit & Stay is their newest blend and my favorite out of the whole line. It has notes of milk chocolate, clove, blackberry, and marshmallow. Finally, Alpha Blend is their dark roast and has notes of vanilla bean, ginger, nutmeg, and dark chocolate. Even though I tend to not like dark roasts because they taste super bitter to me, the Alpha blend had a really nice smooth flavor that wasn’t too intense. You can also get single origin coffee from Peru, Colombia, and Ethiopia.
Overall, I was really impressed with all of the coffee I got to try. Each cup had it’s own unique flavor and aroma and I loved that the coffee is 100% fair trade and organic. Plus, it’s really neat that they have teamed up with a variety of animal shelters all over the country so that you can help the animals in need in your own neighborhood. I would recommend this coffee to java and animal lovers alike because no matter what you can’t go wrong!

Thanks for the review! I’m ordering for the first time and was unsure which blend I would like best. Like you, I’m not a fan of dark roast, but since you say it is smooth I’m going to get the sample pack and try three different kinds!
