I got this great opportunity to try out Wonderfully Raw snacks. As their name suggests, Wonderfully Raw snacks are foods that are raw (they are also wonderful, but I’m getting ahead of myself). Essentially, their products depend on coconut a lot, so if you are not a fan of coconut, you might not like some of their products. Please note that I said “some,” because many of the products are flavorful and do not taste like coconut at all.
I was sent three batches of food: Brussel Bytes, Snip Chips, and Coco-Roons.
Let’s start with the Brussel Bytes.
Chili Pumpkin Seed Crunch: It is actually more spicy than the other flavors. It is my favorite, and I usually do not like spicy food. I also do not like Brussels sprouts, but the description of this tasty snack is that it is a Brussels-coconut snack mix. It tastes like chili. It’s crunchy and delicious. My non-vegan family loved this one.
Brussel Bytes Tamarind Apple Crunch: This one is a little bit of a surprise. It is sweet tasting but still has the taste of Brussel sprouts. Like the Chili Pumpkin Seed Crunch, this was also just as crunchy and just as delicious. I really liked the sweet and sour mix here.
Next are the Snip Chips, which look like chips (kind of. They have interesting shapes), but they do not have the green texture and colors that you see with the Brussel Bytes.
Cheezy Herb Truffle: It has a confusing name, I think? Because when I read the word “truffle,” I expect something sweet. If you are missing the taste of cheese, this snack is for you. Oh my goodness, it is so cheesy that it had my non-vegan family fooled. Someone asked if it was made of Cheddar cheese. Perfect for a morning snack or anytime snack. People were fighting over these, so, guard them well.
Chipotle Lime Cilantro: Warning: do not have this snack for breakfast. I think this is more of an afternoon or noon snack, honestly. It has paprika and lime juice (and chipotle, obviously). This one was one of my favorites. It does not have the sourness of the dill flavored one, and it is a tad bit saltier. The texture is the same. You can see the cashews and the pumpkin seeds. There is a hint of onion taste which is so yummy.
Dill Pickle: Just like the lime cilantro one, I don’t recommend the dill pickle flavored for breakfast. It is perfect for lunch time, though. It is not too sour and tastes divine. I like dill, though, and this thoroughly tasted like it with the perfect crunchy texture of the other Snip Chips.
Onto the Coco-Roons. As someone with a knack for sweets, I gravitated towards the coco roons. They were all delicious.
Brownie: This one does not taste like a brownie, according to the non-vegans I have asked to try it. To me, it tasted like chocolate and coconut. I can’t ask for more than that, honestly. It was delicious. It has been a while since I had chocolate, so I really liked the taste of chocolate in this one: not too sweet, not too bitter, and it did not feel artificial.
Lemon Pie: Oh man, with the perfect little taste of lemon, this snack was among my favorites. The coconut was overpowering, more than it was in the brownie flavored one. But I liked the delicate way the lemon leaves a sweet aftertaste. It is not sour or bitter. It is sweet but not too sweet. You won’t eat this and gag.
Vanilla Maple: This one is probably the mildest of all the Coco-Roons. It has a nice vanilla flavor. I do not know what maple tastes like, but I did not get any other taste other than vanilla and coconuts in this one, which is not at all a bad thing. I love vanilla. If you are a vanilla fan, this one is for you, definitely. Again, it is really nice that the Coco-Roons do not taste too sugary. Too much sugar just makes me go “Bleh.”
Apple Pie: There is not a strong apple flavor to this one. Again, I love that because it does not taste gross. The coconut is a little overpowering for this one to taste anything else. I can taste nutmeg and walnuts, though. It tastes really good. It is not my favorite one, but it is still a goody.
Almond and Strawberry “PB & J”: You can definitely taste the almond in this one and hints of the strawberry. It does not taste like a PB & J sandwich. It tastes like a fancy PB & J sandwich that has a lot of coconut sprinkled in. it tastes good! This is a nice breakfast or lunch snack, for sure. It is like the apple pie flavor in the sense that it does not have a strong fake flavor.
Cacao Nib: I saved the best for last. There are cacao nibs in this one. It tastes absolutely divine. It is the best contrast between sweet and bitter. The cacao bits are small and delightful. You will love this one!
Overall, I had a blast trying out these wonderfully raw products. They really are Wonderfully Raw. The name is accurate. And they are reasonably priced, too, so I suggest you go check them out at: http://mycocoroons.com/
Bon appetite!
