Chic Vegan

Vegan and Fabulous!

Radical Self Love Book Review

July 29, 2015 By Dina

Radical Self Love by Gala DarlingI know that our website is all about veganism and chic-ness. Let me tell you, honestly, I don’t think there is nothing more chic than a person who loves herself. This is why when Gala Darling released a book called Radical Self Love, I bought it, read it, and wrote a review just for you.

The book is not your typical self-help book. It talks about a variety of topics that I have not seen discussed in self-help books focusing on self-love (and it is such a sad number of books discussing self-love out there already). Gala starts by discussing self-love, how it works, and then she assigns homework for us to do to apply her advice. I loved that about the book. It is interactive, clever, well-written, and open-minded.

Let me give you an example of how cleverly written this book is: it includes different methods and tools to self-love. Gala introduces making lists, tapping (which is fascinating), and other ways of bringing positive energy into your life. Like attracts like, and happiness seems so within your grasps with a book like this. She does not talk down at you, and she does not sugarcoat things either.

Gala is daring. She talks about sex, relationships, and friendships. She brings in an energy of joy and curiosity to these topics. It is far from being boring and it is a well thought out book. Some things are common sense, sure, but it is still nice to see them in a book, reaffirm them, and repeat them to yourself as you read this awesome book.

Of course, self-love has to be about self-expression, too. So, fashion is discussed in this book. There is not a dictator-like tone to it. She does not say that style is a certain way, or that one article of clothing is a must-have. She is, however, advocating color, exploring different styles, accessories, and putting care into your appearance. How chic is that!

The book is kind of short, and that is my only qualm with it. I wanted more details and recommendations to explore some of the tools further. If you want some more self-love and self-help goodness in general, consider the following writers: Gabrielle Bernstein, Danielle LaPorte, and Miranda Kerr!

Happy reading!
